How to Make a Free Website for Your Small Business

A small business doesn’t need a big website or thousands of ringgit to start. Customers want three things: what you sell, what it costs, and how to buy or find you. One tidy page that works well on a phone is enough. This guide covers what to include, the free options, and how to make one in 10 minutes without coding.

What a small business website needs

  • What you sell: products, a menu or services, with clear photos.
  • Prices, or at least “from RM…”. Customers who can see a price are more likely to get in touch.
  • How to buy or book: a WhatsApp button with a ready-written message, or links to Shopee and TikTok Shop.
  • Location and opening hours, with a Google Maps and Waze link for a physical shop.
  • Social media, so customers can see your latest posts and reviews.

Start with one page. Most customers open websites on their phones, so a short, clear page usually beats five pages that are hard to read.

Free website options for a small business

All of these are free to start and need no coding. They differ in how you edit and what the address looks like:

  • Google Sites: free with a Google account, good for information pages. You edit it on a computer, and build WhatsApp buttons yourself from links. The address looks like sites.google.com/view/name.
  • Canva: a website from your Canva designs, good if you already use Canva. The free address ends in my.canva.site.
  • Singgah: made for phones, with a ready-made WhatsApp button, Instagram, TikTok and Shopee icons, and Waze links that are easy to add. A short address like singgah.page/yourname, in English and Bahasa Melayu.

Note every free option uses the platform’s address. Your own domain, like .com or .com.my, has to be bought and renewed each year.

How to make a business website with Singgah

  1. Open the editor

Open singgah.page/try on your phone or computer. No sign-up to start, and no app to download.

  2. Fill in your business profile

In the Header block, add your logo or a shop photo, the business name, and one line about what you sell and where.

  3. Add ways to buy

Tap Add block. Pick WhatsApp for orders, and Link for Shopee, TikTok Shop or Google Maps. A Socials block adds Instagram, TikTok and Facebook icons.

  4. Show products and prices

Use a Carousel for product photos (up to 10), an Image for a menu or price list, and Heading blocks to separate Menu, Location and so on.

  5. Pick a look

Tap Theme and choose colours and fonts that suit your business.

  6. Publish

Tap Publish, sign up for a free account, then tap Publish now. Your business name becomes the page’s address, like singgah.page/yourshop; tap Change link for a different one.

A real example: singgah.page/mamahomestay, a homestay’s one-page website with photos, facilities, WhatsApp booking and directions.

Helping customers find your website on Google

  • Add the link to your Google Business Profile. When people search your shop’s name on Google or Google Maps, your business profile shows first. Put your website address in its website field.
  • Use the same name everywhere. The same business name, phone number and address on your website, Google and social media help Google recognise your business.
  • Share the link where customers are: your Instagram and TikTok bio, WhatsApp Status, and a QR code at the counter or on parcels.
  • Write what people search for. “Kek lapis Sarawak, Kuching, home delivery” helps more than “Delicious cakes”.

Published Singgah pages can be found on Google. New pages usually take a few days to a few weeks to appear in search.

When your business needs a full website

One page is enough for most small businesses. You might need a full website when:

  • Customers need to pay on the website, with a cart and online payment.
  • You have many products with stock to keep up to date.
  • You need a booking system with a calendar, or your own domain.

For that, Singgah can also design and build a custom website for your business, alongside your Singgah page or on its own.

Questions

Can I really make a business website for free?

Yes. Google Sites, Canva and Singgah all have free options. Singgah’s free plan gives you one page at your own singgah.page address, with a WhatsApp button, photos and links to your online shops.

Do I need to know coding?

No. You pick blocks like WhatsApp, Link and Carousel, fill in text and photos, then publish. You can do it all from your phone.

Can I use my own domain (.com.my)?

The free options use the platform’s address, like singgah.page/yourname. If you need a website on your own domain, Singgah can also build a custom website for you.

Will customers find my website on Google?

Yes. Published Singgah pages can appear in Google search, usually after a few days to a few weeks. Add the link to your Google Business Profile so it’s found sooner.

Can I change things after publishing?

Yes, any time. Edit and publish again. The address stays the same, so the link in your bio and your QR code don’t need changing.
